The research project will be undertaken at the Centre for Kidney Research at the Children’s hospital at Westmead

For more information contact: Dr. Germaine Wong or Dr. Allison Tong

Description of Project:

The aims of this project are to elicit clinical and non-clinical outcomes that are important and relevant to patients on renal replacement therapy, and assess patients’ preferences for these outcomes and the relative importance of outcomes in nephrology research.

Examples

  • Immunosuppressant regimens in kidney transplantation
  • Preferences for cancer screening
  • Peritonitis treatment and prophylaxis
  • EPO vs. blood transfusion
  • Oral iron vs. iron infusion

What this project involves

  • Systematic review of qualitative and quantitative research on patient-centred outcomes and outcomes reported in nephrology research
  • Combined focus and nominal groups with patients
  • Discrete choice experiments to elicit patient preferences
