Pamela completed her Nursing degree at Cumberland Campus of Health Sciences in 1996. She commenced nursing at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and has worked in various Sydney hospitals since. While working as a nurse Pamela finished her Science degree at Sydney University majoring in microbiology and biochemistry. She then worked as a Clinical Trials Co-ordinator for the Endocrine and Diabetes Department at Westmead Hospital.
Pamela’s thirst for knowledge continued and she returned to university to study Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine at the University of Technology Sydney. Before graduating in 2003, she completed her clinical experience at the Red Cross Hospital in Hang Zhou, China.
Pamela began working at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in 2001 where she later made the transition from ward nurse to research nurse at the Centre for Kidney Research working on the FEVER study. Since then, she has worked with the ARDAC team, screening for early markers of kidney disease in primary and high school children, and is currently working with the CARI Guidelines Group as a Project Co-ordinator. Her project involves the implementation of two CARI vascular access guidelines. The project’s aim is to improve arteriovenous fistula rates in new haemodialysis patients.
This year Pamela plans to finish her Masters of Public Health.
