Denise Campbell is a senior project manager in the Centre for Kidney Research where she is responsible for supporting volunteer writers in the development, updating and completion of CARI guidelines.
She organises and attends guideline group meetings and performs follow up actions as needed and assists writers to meet publication targets. She also has responsibility for organising the annual Critical Appraisal Training day for new writers, Steering Committee meetings, preparing papers for these meetings and performing follow up actions. Denise does background research and writes proposals and budgets for new guidelines and new implementation projects as requested and contributes to grant applications from time to time. She has also contributed as a Steering Committee member to the running of a before/after implementation study. She produces the CARI Annual Report, writes content for the CARI website, creates documents to assist guideline writers in their tasks (i.e. processes, timelines, resources) and prepares PowerPoint presentations about CARI activity each year for different audiences (e.g. sponsors, nephrologists). She also prepares the annual budget and monitors the running costs of CARI activities.
In 2006, Denise completed her Master of Public Health at the University of Sydney. In 2011, she commenced a PhD at the University of Sydney on the topic “Preventing infection in incident peritoneal dialysis patients.” As part of her PhD, she will be helping to run a before/after study looking at the effect of actively implementing two CARI guidelines in a number of renal units located in Australia and New Zealand.
