Dr Geoff Zhang started at CKR in 1990 as a Hospital Scientist and later as a Senior Scientist. He studied Medicine in Beijing Medical University (BMU) and graduated with a Master of Medicine in 1985. He finished postgraduate training in Orthopaedics and related research in BMU before he was granted a postdoctoral fellowship to the United States in 1988. He spent 2 years in St. Louis University Medical School, Missouri USA before coming to Australia and joined the Renal Research Laboratory in 1990. His current research involves studies of T cell receptor V gene usage in allograft rejection and donor specific transfusion induced transplantation tolerance in animal models.
