Sonia completed her Bachelor of Nursing at the University of Sydney in 1993. Clinical experience includes nursing in the areas of rehabilitation, peritoneal dialysis, kidney and liver transplantation and haemodialysis. She completed her renal certificate at University of Western Sydney - Westmead in 1997. She enjoyed working for Central Sydney Area Health Service as their Renal Anaemia Coordinator and commenced working at CKR June 2007 as Clinical Research Assistant for the FEVER Study.
