STEP [Screening and Test Evaluation Program]

STEP is an NHMRC funded program grant awarded to investigators in the School of Public Health at the University of Sydney. It consists of numerous projects that investigate screening and diagnostic test performance and evaluation. Two large projects and several systematic reviews are components of STEP that are conducted in the Centre for Kidney Research at the Children's Hospital at Westmead.

Projects

  • FEVER (Febrile EValuation of Children in the Emergency Room) aims to determine whether a computer decision support system improves the outcomes of children presenting with febrile illness.
  • Screening for proteinuria to prevent end-stage renal failure. This study aims to determine the benefits, harms and costs of screening for proteinuria.
